The need
Camps and retreats have been an important part of the church history here in the Canary Islands but finding a suitable place for these events has become increasingly difficult. High demand and high pricing for any large recreational venue means that every year there are new challenges for campers and organisers.
Our vision is to bring the churches of the Canary Islands together to create a well-equipped venue specially designed for camping, retreats and events. Open and available to all members of our society, but primarily to serve the needs of the local church.
We believe that a place like this needs to be self-sustaining in the long run and we’ve done an economic study and created a plan to bring this about. See some of our inicial ideas about how to do this below:
01.
Camps, retreats and events
02.
Spiritual vacations and ecclesial excursions
03.
Rental of space for workshops, etc.
04.
Intensive stays for gap years, discipleship and work experience
05.
Work and ministerial experience, social incorporation.
06.
Planning of theme camps and special community events
our plan has 3 phases

To share our idea with the world, seeking prayer and financial support, fundraising as much as possible to be able to acquire a suitable place and start working. To form good connections with churches in the Canary Islands letting them know that they can count on our services and encouraging them to form a community to help us to carry out Verdes Pastos in the Tenerife.
After acquiring the venue, using what it has, we begin to make it profitable as soon as possible, starting with small-scale events and gradually building and renovating to accommodate more people and hold larger capacity events. During this period we will continue with the support of churches, families and individuals who want to invest, although the aim is to wean off funding little by little. There would be a family living on site to work full time.
The ultimate goal is to have a venue that is self-sustaining, always functioning with daily, monthly and yearly activities, occasional large-scale / international events and camps for large numbers of people, etc. We would have a yearly agenda open for all church events and also for individuals, churches and groups seeking rest.
